Hi neighbors!
For almost 50 years, I’ve lived in Santa Clara Valley. I grew up with the outdoors as my playground, turning over rocks in West San Jose’s Calabazas Creek, picnicking at Vasona with mom, and now, regularly riding my bike up and down the Guadalupe River trail. My early love of nature led me to a degree in environmental studies from UC Santa Cruz with an emphasis in environmental economics.
Professionally, I spent 15 years working for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, a high-tech trade association that coordinates policy needs between Silicon Valley companies and public agencies. I have been at the center of many critical initiatives to improve public transit and build more affordable housing. And, I served as Co-Chair of Santa Clara Valley Water District’s 2020 renewal of the Safe, Clean Water and Natural Flood Protection Program, which passed overwhelmingly by 75% of voters.
My entire life has focused on planning for the urban growth and infrastructure needs of a thriving community and economy.
Now I’m asking for your support as a candidate for the Valley Water District, an important agency which directs nearly $1 billion a year to safeguard the environment and water supply for the region’s 2 million people and employers.
Whether you’re already a water expert or someone who’s learning about the District, thank you for taking the time to become a more informed voter. Dig in and explore who I am so that you become convinced that I am the best and most qualified candidate. And don't forget to vote on November 5th for Shiloh Ballard for Water District, Seat 2!
